My goals...

My first and foremost goal for my Mostly Dragons website is to find homes for all my treasures. Beyond that, I wanted a site where I can have information and links available on some of my favorite subjects…. dragonware, photography, my creations, cats, health, gardening and who knows what else may appear here.

Collections and more…
It became quite apparent that I needed to finally let go a lot of my treasures. My late husband and I loved going to flea markets and yard sales, and through the years, I must say, we really over did it.

On top of all those treasures, for over 30 years I have been collecting dragons and a special kind of china that is made in Japan called Dragonware. I will also be letting go a good portion of this collection, which is a big part of what I will be selling off… hence the name… Mostly Dragons

Currently I have a small portion of my treasures for sale at blujay.com… with a lot more to come. More will also be listed in auctions at ebid.net. You will find almost anything you might want… lots of dragonware, books, clothing, souvenirs, figurines, tea sets, china, kitchenware, metalware, even a kitchen sink… it’s for a doll house tho. There is also fishing gear and a real nice fishing and pleasure boat. If you don’t see what you are looking for, please don’t hesitate to ask, I just may have it.

The creative side…
For most of my life now I have had a great love for creating art, delving into all kinds of creative mediums. So I decided to also market some of my own creations at etsy.com and Cafepress.com. You will find items such as clothing, gift cards, etched glass, photography, mugs, pillows, etc.

Dragonware…
I credit my Dragonware collection to my Mom… she gave me my first piece back when I was in my twenties. It was a small green saucer with the tell-tale moriage dragon on it… at that time I had never seen china like that before. And then, my collection blossomed from there. Quite a bit of my collection is already listed and you can see and purchase some of them at my Mostly Dragons shop.

My plan is to find list information and links on as much history on Dragonware as I can find. I would also like to include other similar Japanese dragon china such as Kutani, Satsuma, Noritake, etc. I don’t plan on rewiting any information that someone else has already painstakingly taken the time to put together online. So a lot of the information will be links to sites that has information about this curiously wonderful Dragonware. I have a few pieces of each type of china so I can show you what each type looks like.

I also want to include a small online gallery of some of my own Dragonware pieces and hopefully, as time goes by, other collectors will submit a few of their photos of their favorite Dragonware pieces for the gallery also.

About me…
I have also always wanted to have a site where I could have a gallery for my photography and creations and eventually sell them to the public. I would like to share a lot of other beneficial and interesting information with others also. This website is the beginning of a dream I have had for a long time… I hope you enjoy what I have put together here as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Please be aware, this site and some of my stores still have a long way to go before they are completed and stocked. I am still in the long process of photographing, designing, making and getting each item ready to list, so please check back often to see what is new here! If you check out my categories at my listings on blujay.com, you will see some of the other types of items I will be listing in the near future. As I have more of my shop links available I will post them here on my website.

Thanks!

Thank you for dropping by… and keep checking in, I will be continually adding more shops, information and links!

Bengals cats and kittens needing forever homes

Here is a list of Bengal cats needing forever homes at Petfinders.com

Please, whenever possible, save a life and rescue your new animal friend before buying from a breeder.

Of course I am directing you first to a website about Bengal Cats. Here you will find photos of the different colorations and a great description of this wonderful breed. However, there are similar pages within the same site that have photos and descriptions of other breeds of cats.

Ka D'Argo...

On Christmas Eve of 1999, my late husband, Chris, ask me to go with him to a house south of Puget Sound in Washington. He told me he wanted my company while he took care of a field tech job for a real special customer that was having printer problems. This was not unusual that he would do a job on Christmas Eve, he was quite dedicated to his work and customers so I didn’t even think anything of it… and, if I was off work, he enjoyed bringing me along for the company.

When we got there, the couple opened their front door and sitting just behind them was this very unusual looking kitten. He was a very beautiful and wild looking thing and I had never seen a cat like him before. I still didn’t have a clue what was going on until Chris said unexpectedly, “Merry Christmas, he’s your new kitten!” I couldn’t believe it! And, this was the first time Chris had ever been able to keep a secret like this from me.

The new kitty... Receiving a kitten for Christmas was definitely not what I was expecting… Chris never like cats up until he met me and the two cats I had at the time eight years earlier! I was definitely overwhelmed and surprised!

Before we brought D’Argo home Chris took me to the pet store and we outfitted him with a big bagful of his own Christmas gifts also.

Chena ChristmastimeD’Argo was a little shy at first and definitely apprehensive of being around my big blonde dog, Chena… but then I think Chena was also apprehensive around the kitten… they both definitely kept an eye on each other for a few weeks. I really don’t think Chena was too pleased with having another cat in the house again also but they did finally become friends.

D’Argo is a Bengal cat, and, what they call “pet grade”. I never had any want to show cats and in my opinion, he is just beautiful the way he is. Bengals come from the breeding of the domestic tabby cat and the Asian Leopard cat and D’Argo is a 7th generation Bengal…which gives him his more wilder side, and, seems a whole lot smarter than what I have seen as the average cat. I am not sure if they all talk like he does but he is definitely a talker… and, rather loud at times. Sometimes D’Argo doesn’t want to be touched and other times he can’t get enough petting. He also, for some reason, almost always has to hang out with me wherever I am… accept when I am outside, of course…. they have always been indoor cats only. After nine years of D’Argo hanging out with me, I have learned that Bengal cats are definitely a very different breed of cat.

Chris knew how much I loved cats and knew I was really missing having them around. I had lost my last cat of 20 years, Mulpa, about six months earlier and another 15 year old cat, Pissfoot (and yes, that was his name) about a year before Mulpa.

I would have to say that D’Argo was definitely a really wonderful and very special Christmas present!

I really don’t know what I would have done without him and my other animal Friends… they really helped me through a whole lot of trying times.

The Bengal Cat
If you don’t know much about the Bengal cats and would like to know more, I have links below and on my Favorite Links page. In both places you will be able to find links to pretty much everything you wanted to know about this exotic and beautiful cat.

There will be other links dedicated to cats in general, including a great place to buy food and vet stuff for cats at a great prices with great service… I like them because they have homeopathic and alternative also. There is also, animal health site (and human), etc.

Books on Bengals
I only own one of the below amazon.com books, mine has a different older cover tho. I have not seen the other two so I can give any oppinion on them. I usually read the feedback about each book I am thinking about buying and reccomend you do the same.

The one book I own below is “Bengal Cats, A complete Pet Owners Manual.” This book is an overall good book for general cat information and does delve into a little on Bengal characteristics and some of their differences from a domestic cat. It is only 96 pages so it can’t go into as much as I would have liked. However, it does have some great photos of some Bengal cats and kittens and is a good inexpensive start for learning a little about Bengals.

Leopardo da Gotcha
I found a wonderful book, titled, Leopardo da Gotcha," written by Leopardo’s Servant — R. J. R. Rockwood. It’s a wonderfully well written story about Robert’s Bengal cat named Leopardo da Gotcha with some great photos. This book will definitely give you an excellent insight into Bengal cats and what they are really all about.

375 nm UV Ultraviolet LED Flashlight Pocket size
For those who have cats that are not using the cat box, you might want to get a black light flashlight… you want to make sure it is a 375 nm UV Ultraviolet. If you shine it on your flooring in the dark, it should show up all the places your kitty, or other animal, had been going… prepare yourself tho… may be more that you think. However, it will tell you where it is so you will know where to clean. Here is a small black light pocket light I was told will work.

Are You Poisoning Your Pets?
Here is a book that I think is a good idea to have on hand if you own pets (indoors or outside) and are not holistic when it comes to household cleaning supplies, outdoor sprays and such.

I bought this book awhile back and a couple of days ago I finally had a bunch of time to read some of it while sitting waiting at the DMV. It is a real eye opener, even for me… I try to be as holistic and organic as possible, but know that it is impossible to do all the time. I am definitely going to think twice now when using non-holistic or non-organic products tho.

Are You Poisoning Your Pets? is an older book but it has a ton of information that does coincide with cleaning products, and such, of today. It lists and talks about lots of products that might be toxic to you or your pets (flea collars, shampoos, cleaning supplies, building materials, etc). Plus, the price is right, you can pick it up for as little as 1 cent plus shipping on Amazon.

The first book is the one I have, dated 1995, the second book is dated 1998 and don’t know if it is an updated version or not. I added the book about pet foods because I know there are so many pet foods out there that are real bad for them. I plan on ordering this book myself.

I do not feed my cats any cat food that has grains in them… my advice, if you can afford it, please do so also? There are plenty of websites out there that can fill you in on how detrimental that kind of pet food is for your cat or dog. As I have time, I will ad links here… meanwhile, please do your homework and take care of your dear animal friends? Thanks!

Buying From Amazon.com
Anytime you go thru my links to look for products or books at Amazon.com, It will help keep this website going! Every penny will help! Thanks!
